Show I t H ea ea f isM isMea aw ie a w t te t T m M secs e N Q t l AL WARD BISHOPS were honored recently They ve t lt If-lt 10 to right Rondo Sullivan Martin Curtis Don Brown Caldwell Coldwell and David Rust Vernal Ward honors honors' bishops A social and dinner was enjoyed en en- enjoyed joy joyed d by the Vernal Fifth Ward High Priests and their wives recently A special program was presented honoring the five Bishops who have served sine the ward was organized just over 20 years ago all of whom still live within the Fifth Ward boundaries TWENTY YEARS ago on May 8 1955 the membership of the then present three Vernal Wards met in a joint Sacrament Meeting at the Uintah Stake Tabernacle under the direction of Stake President Archie Johnson At that meeting two new wards were created making Vernal Fourth Ward and Vernal Fifth Ward The first Bishop of Vernal Fifth Ward was Martin W. W Curtis with Glen Ovard as first counselor and Rondo Sullivan as second counselor The clerks called were Bruce Watkins and Warren Mott Molt Bishop Curtis served as Bishop from 1955 He lIe was succeeded by Bishop Rondo Sullivan who served from 1960 to 1963 Bishop Bryce Caldwell was was as a's then called serving 1963 to 1970 Then David Rust Hust was the bishop who served from 1970 to 1974 Don Brown is now the present Bishop He Ile was called in September September September Sep Sep- of oC 1974 The program at the social included a brief history and tribute to each bishop and musical numbers featuring a favorite song of each bishop A poster for each bishop was displayed and presented to him which featured his likes and interests A Bicentennial theme was used for decorations commemorating the birthday of our nation and 20 years as a ward |
