Show Hunting dates set by wildlife board The 1974 pheasant hunt will open November 2 2 Division of Wildlife Resources biologists representatives of oC the Utah Farm arm Bureau u and nod sportsmen concurred with the opening date set by the Wildlife Board Season length will be set in August after biologists have collected field Held data on the popular birdI bird I All AND ANI cougar seasons were determined by the Board and two cha changes will be made Inthis in inthis inthis this years year's regulations Bear season this year will open May 1 and continue through October 15 except during big game seasons Open seasons for Cor cougars will be November 1 through April 15 1975 Changes this year include a pursuit permit for both species Persons interested in chasing cougars and bears for recreation but do not wish to harvest the animals may buy a 10 pursuit t permit A separate permit is required for each species Harvest permits for residents will still cost 15 and for nonresidents will be allowed to guide bear and cougar hunters this year The pursuit permit and nonresident guide rulings will be reviewed by the Board next year to determine their success The bear and cougar hunts will be open statewide except that nonresidents may hunt bears only in the north and south area in eastern Utah TURKEY can pursuit their quarry May 4 through 19 The Board followed Division biologists recommendations that a one tom torn limit be enforced this year Open counties include Beaver Garfield Kane San Juan Piute Sevier Grand Wayne Iron and Washington except west of U 18 near Enterprise where new transplants have been made The Board increased hunter safety fees for hunter safety trainees from 1 to 2 due to an increase in costs for some instructors Those costs include include in in- clude dude a new manual rental fees for training sessions gasoline etc |
