The Uintah Utes will battle Mountain View, Orem, Provo, Timpview and American Fork in Region 7 in the 1983-84 season. Pleasant Grove will move to Region 8 and will battle Carbon, Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson and Lehi. Dixie is splitting into two 2-A schools and Cedar City, a 3-A team, will play 2-A schools and will playoff at the end of the regular season with a 3-A team. Bear River, Ben Lomond, Ogden, Sky View, Mountain Crest and Logan will be in Region 5. Sky View was split into two 3-A schools, Mountain Crest and Sky View. Box Elder will move to Region One and will be a 4-A team. Region 6 will consist con-sist of Jordan, West, Judge, South, Tooele and Murray. Union will battle Emery, Grantsville, Intermountain, Morgan and Wasatch in 2-A Region 9. It's just too bad and sad that the Uintah Uin-tah Utes couldn't have been put in Region 8 with Carbon, Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson, Lehi and Pleasant Plea-sant Grove. These teams are closer in size to Uintah than such big schools as Provo, Mountain View, Orem and Timpview. Timp-view. The Utes have played Carbon, Lehi Payson from time to time. The Uintah Ute wrestling team can compete with any team in the region, but it's tough for a basketball team to build a winning tradition when they have to play such super high school basketball powers as Provo, and Mountain View as well as Orem, Timpview and American Fork. It seems strange that Pleasant Grove was placed in Region 8. It would seem that Region 7 would be the proper place as far as traveling is concerned. Mountain View and Orem are just down the road from Pleasant Grove and Orem and Provo Pro-vo and Timpview are just a little bit farther far-ther down the road in Provo. American Fork is Pleasant Grove's next door neighbor. It appears that Lehi, Payson, Spanish Fork, Springville and Carbon didn't want to have to battle the big powers in Orem and Provo and Pleasant Grove wanted out of Region 7 and thus Uintah was voted in as the sixth team in Region 7. . i. ; ,. v. .............. ! : I v s .;.-.. . t J f . 1 - ! j t -1 J - - v 1 j : 1 I ELBOWS CLASH as Uintah's Kevin Montague, right connects with an opponent after having released the ball toward the basket. |
