Show BLAA readies assessment right-of-way The Bureau of Land Management environmental assessment of a right-of-way for a 24-inch pipeline into Ashley Spring is still in rough form and will be ready for public input shortly. The right-of-way is being requested by the Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District for the last leg of a culinary water pipeline from the Ashley Spring to the Chocolate Rock water tank in the mouth of Dry Fork Canyon. Opposition to the granting of the right-of-way was voiced at a public hearing by the BLM April 28. Most entities en-tities opposing the right-of-way questioned ques-tioned the Ashley Valley District's water rights in Ashley Springs. Opposition voiced by others were the potential hazard to fish in Ashley Creek below the springs and also water right below the springs. The problems encountered in compiling com-piling an assessment of the right-of-way is the coordination with other government agencies who feel they should have some input, said Lloyd Ferguson, BLM district manager. |
