He bowled bowl-ed the game at 8:30 p.m. Van bowled a 211 game in his first game and a 225 in the second game. He snared a 300 game in this third and final game. The games added up to a 736 series. Van's best ever previous game was a 294, which he bowled in Salt Lake City. "I have been bowling good. I started good on the first game. I left one or two pins and picked them up for spares. I started out hitting the pocket every time and getting a better pin fall in the second game," stated Van. "I just started hitting hit-ting the same line I had been using before. I hit them and they started falling fall-ing in the third game as I was getting right in the pocket. The pins were all right back on the pin deck. I wiped them all out." When asked what was going through his mind when he was getting ready to send to ball down the lane for his attempt for a 300 game, Van remarked, "After I had gained my 11th strike I knew I had a chance to get a 300 game and I figured I better do it this time. The pins all went down. The ball went Brooklyn. I over-cranked over-cranked it. It went on a righthander's side. I just hoped the 300 game would come on the Brooklyn shot. It did. It blew them out. I jumped up in the air and let out a holler and spun around. My teammates team-mates were really excited. They were more excited than I was." Van has been bowling in leagues for ten years. Van is a member of the G & L Potguts bowling league team. Other members of the team are Darrel LaRose, Mike Ap-pah, Ap-pah, Rick Martinez and David White. The sponsor of the team is Jay Gates of G & L Chevrolet. |
