Show Utah big fish records fall Two big fish have made the record books so far this winter according to George McLaughlin, a fisheries biologist for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Deon Sparks of Randolph, Utah recently hauled in a 4 lb. 4 oz. Bonneville Bon-neville whitefish at Bear River. The new mark breaks the previous record fish of 3 lbs. 6 oz. caught by Max Wixom, also at Bear Lake. . t John Kirkland of Bountiful hoisted a 1 lb. 7 oz. yellow perch through the ice at Deer Creek Reservoir last month to set a new record for the species. Kirkland jigged a small spoon just off the bottom to fool the hefty perch. The previous record fish, weighing in at 1 lb. 2 oz. was caught by Shane Young in 1982. Albert Pagel caught a matching fish in 1981. |
