Show UBIC entertainment and rock dances set During the UBIC week there are three rock dances scheduled. The first was August 5 at the City Park Tennis Court from 9 to midnight with Paradox playing. Friday night, August 6. beginning at 9:30 p.m. London Bridge who has played quite frequently at past UBIC celebrations will be playing. They will be using tunes from such groups as Styx. BeeGees, The Cars, and Earth. W ind, and Fire. Their music covers the entire pop spectrum. It ranges from rock-and roll and new wave to soul, funk and disco. On Saturday night. August 7 a five-piece five-piece band from Provo known as Flight will perform from 10-12:30 p.m. They plav contemporary music and have songs by the Go-Go's. Pat Benatar. the Doobie ' Brothers, and many others. This will also be held at the City Park Tennis Court. In the way of entertainment, Warren Burton being aided by accomplished pianist Betty Beecher will perform Friday night. August 6 at 8:40 p.m. Mr. Burton will perform on the Appalachian wine harp, the Sousa marching straw, the Tartini balloon, and the Renaissance nose flute. Dr. Burton has performed for live audiences throughout the country and on national television. He has been on such shows as Johnny Carson. The Dinah Shore Show, and P.M. Magazine. Mr. Burton is a professor at Utah State University and is head of the Department of Music. He is known as ".America's Master Musical Satirist." Mr. Burton has his Doctor of Musical .Arts degree from the University of Oregon. He is well-known as a music educator, clinician, and conductor and has been recognized by two prestigious Gold Awards from the National Federation of Music Clubs. Not only has he won national awards for his work, as a producer-director for public television, he has performed as a cellist in symphony orchestras under conductors such as Leonard Berstein, Charles Munch, and Maurice Abravanel. His performance will lead the audience through an evening of music hilarity. Entertainment for Saturday night. August 7 at 8 p.m. will feature Mahana and Jaspering. one of the top comedy teams on the contemporary circuit. This team has been part of the Johnny W'hitakerShow. Their work with Donny and Marie at the Osmond television studios has given them contact with many stars. They have worked with such acts as Melissa Manchester, Ray Price, Ann Murray. Jody Miller, Tommy James and Mel Tillis. They have performed all across the United States and Canada. |
