ISRAEL CALVIN JORGENSEN Jorgensen dies in Vernal Israel Calvin (Cal) Jorgensen died April 21, 1982 in the Ashley Valley Medical Center after a short illness. Born December, 31, 1897 in Bensen, Cash County, Utah, to Jacob and Melvina Munk Jorgensen. He married Leona Elizabeth Rasmussen, May 14, 1918, in Jensen, Utah. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, July 16, 1919. An active member of the LDS Church he served as Bishop of the Avalon Ward of 94 years. He was stake High Priest financial secretary in the Vernal Third Ward and as a home teacher for a number of years. They lived in Leota, Utah, where he drove school bus and ranches for 49 years. They moved to Vernal in 1971. He retired from the BLM where he worked for over twenty years. Survivors are: his widow; his children, Mrs. Keith (Calva) Spackman, Lewiston, Utah; Mrs. Robert (Norma) Marshell, Randlett, Utah; Kent J. Jorgensen, Concord, California; Grant I. Jorgensen, San Jose, California; Mrs. Ronald (Lela) Searle, Hotchkiss, Colorado; Leo H. Jorgensen, Vernal; Mrs. Reed (Nina) Tolton, Salt Lake City. 33 grandchildren, grand-children, 74 great-grandchildren, two brothers Oliver Jorgensen, Randlett, Utah; Melvin Jorgensen, Moses Lake, Washington; 1 sister Borthea Bodily, Salt Lake City, Utah. One son, Karl, 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 24, 1982 at 11 a.m. at the Vernal Utah State Center. Friends may call Friday evening 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Vernal Mortuary. Mor-tuary. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. |
