Show 30 years ago May 1, 1982 . A record crowd of 1564 filled the Uih- tah Sfake Tabernacle to capacity Sun-"' day morning to hear addresses at the opening session of the Stake Quarterly conference. Quite a number were unable to find a seat. Addresses were delivered by visiting authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder LeGrand Richards of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles, Lee A. Palmer of the Presiding Bishops Office and Norman Dunn, instructor of religion at the BYU, and local speakers. June 6 is the date set for the marriage of Miss Elizabeth Farley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Farley of Elkhorn, West Virginia, to Mr. Glade M. Sowards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Har-mon Sowards, 380 West 1st South. Alvin E. Weeks was named a candidate can-didate by the Vernal Lions club last week for the office of district governor of the Utah Lions club. Mr. Weeks has been active in the Lions club organization organiza-tion and has held many of the important offices during the 17 years he has been a member. He has served on most of the committees and was president of the Vernal club during 1947-48. He has also been zone chairman, 1948-49 and deputy district governor 1949-50. Byron Goodrich, for thirteen years a counselor in the Uintah Stake Presidency, Presiden-cy, was released from that position during dur-ing the afternoon session of Stake Conference Con-ference Sunday because of poor health. Lynn N. Murdock was sustained to fill the vacancy thus created in the Stake presidency. |
