Show Manila ' Clara Robinson Phone 784-3463 Candidates file for county offices Monday, April 26 at 5 p.m. was the last anyone wishing to be a candidate in the coming election in Daggett County could file. Filing for county clerk was incumbent Gene Briggs and Gail Des-pain Des-pain (both Republicans). Filing for county assessor was incumbent Marie Beckstead and Kathy Meinrod (both Democrats). For 2-year commission, filing was Jerry Taylor (Democrat) and James Briggs, (Republican). For 4-year commission, LaRay Sadlier (Democrat). For sheriff - Gaylen Jar-vie Jar-vie (incumbent) has refiled on the Republican ticket. Although justices of peace and school board members need not file until June 30, Rena Palleson has filed for justice of peace in Dutch John. Chad Leith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Leith, took first place at the AAU Wrestling Tournament in Rock Springs April 24. He is now eligible to enter the state tournament which will be held in Rock Spring May 8-9. Also S. P. Valentine, took first place in his weight group, and is eligible for the tournament. Stew Leith took second place. Lennie Cook won third place. Other boys from the Flaming Gorge AAU Wrestling Club were Billy and Johnny Rosser and Dewey Lamb. Daggett County Commissioners changed the precinct boundaries at the last commissioner's meeting Wednesday, Wednes-day, April 21. The precincts are now as follows: Precinct 1: from Highway 191 east into Dutch John down 4th Street, east, also to include Brown's Park and Clay Basin, consists of 178 people. Precinct 2: from Wyoming line on Highway 191 into Dutch John and west of 4th Street, south along Highway 191 into Greendale Junction then north of Highway 44 to Highway 43-44 junction, then east of Highway 43 to airport road, east along airport road to Lake and north to Wyoming, consists of 157 people. peo-ple. Precinct 3: Highway 43 on north side from Bennion Road to Main Street on north side, consists of 166 people. Precinct 4: east side of Main Street and north side of Highway 43 to airport including area north of airport road to Flaming Gorge and Wyoming State Line. Consists of 173 people. Precinct 5: from Highway 43 to junction junc-tion to Highway 44 and everything west including Birch Creek. Consists of 164 people. The following criminal cases were heard at the Daggett County Courthouse Cour-thouse this past week: State of Utah vs Teresa Lynn Hooser, preliminary hearing bound over to district court; State of Utah vs LeRoy Francis Harris, preliminary hearing, bound over to district court. State of Utah vs Cloyd Reed, jury trial, hung jury. Defendant's attorney made a motion that the defendant defen-dant pay to Bndger Valley Electric S100 if the state would dismiss the case. The state granted the motion. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Meza are the parents of a boy born in the Hock Springs Spr-ings hospital April 9. Visiting the Meza's is the baby's grandmother from Wisconsin. He died of an apparent heart attack at his home in Minnie's Gap. Mr. Williams was a rancher in the Manila area of Linwood before the dam was build. Since then he has lived in Minnie's Gap with his brother Paul and his sister-in-law. Many people from Manila attended the funeral of Eva Buckley Wednesday, April 21. Eva Buckley was born in Manila to Alvin E. and Sarah Ann Nelson Smith Aug. 29, 1904. April 3, 1926 she married Silas C. "Tex" Dorman. This marriage was solmenized in the Ogden Temple in February 1977. On March 11, 1980 following her husband's death, she married Harry Buckley in Lyman, Wyo. Mrs. Buckley is survived by her husband of Salt Lake City, two sons, Clifford G. Dorman, Salt Lake City; Gail Dorman of Winsor, Conn., one daughter Mrs. Michael (Doreen) Bailey of Salt Lake City; 3 grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; one brother Daniel A. Smith, Bountiful. Utah and one sister Doris S. Walker, Fruit Heights. Utah. Funeral services were held Wednesday Wednes-day in the Lyman Stake Center in Urie. Wyo. Burial was at the Rest Haven Park in Rock Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Briggs attended the funeral services for Eva Buckley in L'rie, Wyo. While at the funeral Mrs. Briggs met her two sisters. Lenore Denham and Dessa Richins of Mesa. Ariz , who were attending the funeral also. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Briggs and Alice Tripled were Salt Lake City visitors Monday. April 26.
