Show ' ' t ' I LESLER FLOYD (Red) Williams celebrates his 80th birthday. Open house, November 23 for L F. Williams Friends and relatives of Lesler Floyd (Red) Williams are invited to attend an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Masonic Temple basement, 166 South 100 West, Vernal, in honor of his 80th birthday. Floyd was born in DeWitt, Ark., Nov. 14, 1900 to Levi and Anne Williams. The family moved to Elko, Nev., in 1901 for a short time. They then moved back to Arkansas until 1915. In 1915 the Williams returned to Nevada. Floyd spent most of his life in Nevada working in various mines there and throughout the west. Floyd married Margaret Baker Arnold in Elko, Nev., July 18, 1934. She died June 11, 1970. Floyd worked at the Rio Tinto mine at Mountain City, Nev. for 10 years. He then moved to-Bonanza, to-Bonanza, Utah Feb. 5, 1948 as mine foremen for the American Gilsonite Mines. He retired Dec. 5, 1965. Floyd moved to Vernal upon retirement. He married Thelma Schnantz Gass Dec. 31, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nev. Floyd is a member of the Masonic Lodge and past Master of Ashley Lodge No. 28. He is also a member of ElKalah Shrine and Uintah Basin Shrine Club, Vernal, York Rites, Scottish Rites, and active member of the Order of Eastern Star. Floyd has one daughter, Mrs. Marion Watley, in Cedar City, Utah and one son, Edward Gass of Boise, Idaho. No gifts please. |
