Show Uintah community school director reveals classes The Uintah S:hool District has named a new head for the Community School Program. Mary Contreras will serve as director and has released the following information on upcoming fall classes. Holiday crafts will be a six week course "held Thursday nights from 7 to '' 9:30. Maurene Spencer of Glenn-Mar Arts will instruct the following crafts: Kitchen Witches, Dry and silk floral arrangements and decorative holiday wreaths. A nominal fee will be charged in addition to materials used for the projects. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, CPR. will be taught if there are enough interested persons. Classes will be four 2-hour classes with the day and time to be arranged. There is no charge for the class, but a minimal fee will be charged for materials used. Class size is limited to 12. First Aid will be taught in four 2-hour sessions. This will be a multi-media class using movies and workbooks. Minimum age is 14. Class size is limited to 15 persons. A cost will be assessed for materials. This class and the CPR class will be held if there are enough interested in-terested persons. Square Dancing will be held each Wednesday and will last for 20 weeks. Instructor will be Ron Pederson. A nominal fee will be charged. Lessons begin October 3 at 7 p.m. in the Vernal Junior High cafeteria. Dinah Dancers Club dance is held from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. after the lessons, Registration will be held Oct. 3 just prior to class. Hunter Safety course. There will be two Hunter Safety courses taught. Registration for the first series will be September 26. Classes will be October 3,4,10. ll,from7 to9 p.m. Registration for the second series will be November 1. Classes will be November 7, 8, 14, 15. Persons completing the courses will receive a Hunter Safety certificate. A fee will be charged. Lloyd Clark will be the instructor. Pottery will be held each Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will cover an eight week period. Students will learn hand building to wheel throwing, decorative to functional pieces. The classes are open to all levels of ability. A fee will be charged plus costs of clay and glazes. Women's Self Defense classes are being offered this year. The class duration will be six weeks with time and day to be announced. Students will l)e taught a working knowledge in personal safety, self confidence, awareness to deal mentally and physically with todays violence. A fee wiil he charged. Wood working will be taught for eight weeks starting October 22. The time and day will be announced. Students will work on individual projects by Joe Calder. A fee will be charged plus cost of materials used. Registration will he from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the Community School Directors office acrossi'lhe hull from the cafeteria in Vernal Junior High .School.
