Show Young mothers registration date released Registration for Young Mothers' will be held at the Adult Education Building, 209 South 100 West, on Thursday, Thurs-day, August 23, at 9 a.m., according to Rhoda T. DeVed, Supervisor of Adult Education for the Uintah School District. Classes will begin on August 29. The Young Mothers' Program is an important part of the Uintah Adult High School. Young Mothers' is open to any mother or expectant mother, regardless of age, who does not have a high school diploma and who wants to work toward a diploma. This is a daytime program, and pre-school children and infants come to school with their mothers. The only cost is for materials used in sewing and home arts. The Adult Education Building is the former Uintah School District Office. Classes meet from 8:30 to 4:10, Monday through Thursday. Friday is open for students to have free time, with workshops scheduled some Fridays through the year. Young Mothers' follows the school district calendar with school beginning on the same schedule as other schools and all school holidays observed. Courses offered at Young Mothers' this semester include American History, Consumer Education, English I and II, Diet and Exercise, Family Relations, Interior Design, Responsible Parenthood, and Sewing. Penelope Hanberg is the full time Home Economics instructor with Cindy Brougher teaching history, Kristie , Callan, consumer education, and Julia Merino, English. Individualized courses, for those who enroll late are Home Arts, Responsible Parenthood and Sewing. Baby sitters care for the children while the mothers are in class. Creative play and activities provide social and learning experiences for the children.
