Show Jensen Vera Snow Phone 789 0628 V Former resident dies at home Arlington, VA. The DeMar Dudleys received word of the death o( Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Dudley, Oct. 11, in Arlington, Virginia. Funeral services were held Saturday. Burial was in Hancock, Maryland, where Dorothy was born and raised. Howard and Dorothy have lived in Arlington for the last thirty years. Howard was on the police force in Washington, DC, until his retirement a few years ago. Besides her husband, Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Cuiler, and Jean, both married and living in Virginia. Jean Ainge wa's one of the instructors at the Tri-Chem open house and Christmas Fair held at the Scout House in Vernal Oct. 11. There were three other instructors from the Vernal area. Three of Jean Ainges customers: Kathy Cook, Lorraine Wall, and Carolyn Trujillo received door prizes. Sam Haslem of Hayden, Colo., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Haslem last weekend. Visitors at the Drew Christiansens Sunday were Ruth Magee, her two daughters and her two married sons and families; also Am and Vera Caldwell and Drew's father and grandmother from Salt Lake City. They all attended church and witnessed the blessing of Patrick Drew, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Drew Christiansen. Aver and Rita Warren have both been "under the weather" lately. Aver was stung on the face and neck by bees and Rita fell and bruised herself. Guests at the home of Brent and Linda Basccm were Brent's mother and grandmother also his sister and family. They all attended the confirmation con-firmation services for Brett Stubbs; . Brent and Linda's son. Tw enty-eight ward members went by bus to the Provo LDS temple last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Richens visited the Leo and Leta Snows and were present when Brian Snow was confirmed con-firmed at church. The former Mary Helen Merkley and her husband were visiting in Jensen last week. They visited at DeMar Dudleys. Blanche Wilkins, Jpe Haslems and other neighbors. Mary Helen grew up in Jensen and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Merkley. Mrs. Larry Peterson's parents from Ogden spent the weekend at the Peterson home. Her mother attended church with the Peterson family and witnessed the confirmation of her grandson, Cary Peterson. Velda Wilkins accompanied by her mother, Mary Acklund, ReAnn and her two children, Jana and her baby, motored to Orem last Monday to visit Mrs. Acklund's brother. They all returned the same day. Cindy Ruppe was bitten on the foot by a poison spider. She didn't wear a shoe for a while, but is doing well now. Ab and Delia Murray were happy to have their granddaughter, Mariah, and her husband and baby visit them last week. They live in Texas. The Boyd Snows hosted a group of relatives to a pot-luck dinner Sunday afternoon. Bishop Lyn Morrell and Gawain Snow brought in 500 bushels of apples from Grand Junction, Colorado Saturday afternoon. The ward members mem-bers will sell them. They are at Dee Curfews. Joe Haslem was tearing out an irrigation dam when he was attacked by a number of stinging bees. He was quite ill for a while, but is much better now. Autumn must surely be here, and winter not far away if the Sandhill Crane migration is a sign. They circle, they swerve, land in the fields in large numbers, then as if given the signal, they all take to the sky once more and move southward. Often so high is,their flight, they cannot be seen, but we have heard hundreds of them the last day or two. Aaryn, daughter of Gawain and Addie Snow, celebrated her birthday Oct. 15, with a family dinner. Her birthday birth-day cake was made and decorated by her mother. Aaryn had been out of school because of illness, but enjoyed her birthday gifts and greetings of relatives. Barbara (Snow) Yates from Costa Mesa, CA., has been spending a few days with relatives. Her husband came to Jensen Sunday from Grand Junction, Colo., where he has been at St. Mary's Hospital at the bedside of his mother whofhad undergone surgery. They plan to return to CA. Tuesday or Wed-'nesday. Wed-'nesday. Seven members of DUP Camp Escalante attended the DUP Convention Con-vention at the Golden Age Center Saturday Oct. 13. Each camp captain from both Duchesne and Uintah counties, gave a report of the past year's activities, then Daughters Betty Sorenson and Louise Green from the Central Camp in Salt Lake spoke. A question and answer period followed. Much encouragement was given to get Pioneer Histories (1847-1869) written and sent in. Luncheon was served. Those attending from Jensen were, Jean Ainge, Captain; Vera Ainge, Blanch Wilkins, Ila Peterson and small grandson, Eleanor Chew, Gertrude Turner and Vera Snow. Numerous publications, song books and record books were available at the , "for sale" table. |
