Show Senior citizens hosted at dinner The senior citizens held the first dinner for October, October 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center. The menu for the dinner was roast beef, mashed potatoes, cold slaw, whole kernel corn, pineapple upside-down cake, coffee and water. County Nurse Melanie Son took blood pressures and gave flu shots after dinner to those who wanted them. Some of the men played pool. They do not have the new equipment that was ordered. The next dinner will be Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. October 13, at 7:30 was the regular meeting of the Manila Town Council at the Senior Citizen Crater, A schedule for these meetings is posted at the Town office on the window. Mayor Charles Willis and Mrs. Willis have been on a trip to Chicago, Illinois to visit Charle's sister, whom he has not seen for a long time. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Iverson left for the winter of Monday of this week. No school was held Thursday or Friday due to the L'EA in Salt Lake City. Quite a few cattle and sheep are being shipped from the area. Some have already been shipped and others will be going soon. Many elk hunters were in the area this past week as elk hunting started Wednesday. Mrs. Donald Larsen and Mrs. Charles Murphy were called to Salt Lake City Friday night due to Mrs. Larsen's son and Mrs. Murphy's son-in-law, Craig Larsen, was critically ill and would undergo surgery Saturday morning. On Thursday week before last Mrs. Slaugh accompanied her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Peterson, to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they visited Mrs. Slaugh's husband, her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Slagowski, and granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Steward Anders, An-ders, and grandson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Peterson. Mrs. Slaugh returned home Tuesday of this week. The James Olsons were in Salt Lake this week for medical attention for their small son, Daniel. Mr. and Mrs. Art Robinson visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Robinson, Friday. Art helped his father pour cement, but returned to Rock Springs in the afternoon. Joyce Long presented the visiting teacher's message at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Spiritual Living message was then presented by Sue Tinker before testimony meeting. Mr. and Mrs. George Ellsworth visitied George's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ellsworth in Leota, Sunday. Temperatures lowered in the middle of this past week to a low of 37 almve zero for the night of October 3. Three days-one the first part of the week and two the last part of the week showed a high of 7!) degrees alxive zero. There was no foisturc, but a little wind. A few of the gardens have not U-en frosted yet, most of them have. Most of the leaves on the trees are changing colors. There Have Immti some beautiful fall days this year. |
