Punt, Pass and Kick signups begin at ShowalterFord It's Punt, Pass, and Kick time once again and girls and boys may sign up at Showalter Ford in Vernal. The age groups are 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years old. Local youngsters are back in the spotlight again-tuning up their football skills in preparation for the 1979 Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. Nationally, Punt, Pass and Kick is celebrating its 19th anniversary. It is sponsored by the Ford Dealers of America in cooperation with the National Football League. Since it was started in 1961 it has attracted millions of youngsters. Contestants in the program compete only against others their own age. Any youngsters 8 through 13 years of age, accompanied by a parent or guardian, may register to compete in the program at Showalter Ford. There is no entrance fee and no body contact during competition. No special equipment is needed and participating does not impair a youngster's amateur standing. . Scoring is based on accuracy and distance with one point added for every foot of kicking, punting and passing distance, and a point subtracted for every foot off the center line. Twelve national finalists will battle for National Championships in their age group at Super Bowl XIV on January 20 in Pasadena, , California. Winners will have their names permanently per-manently inscribed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. Ohio. Trophies . will be presented to the winners by NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle. |
