| Show At the Golf Course several weeks ago the golf cart turned out to be an enemy to one of our local golfers While golfing at the course Ralph Rolfe genial well-known well former sales clerk for Ashton's and Kens Ken's Sporting Goods accidentally fell out of a golf cart on his back as his companion companion companion com com- panion rounded a curve Ralph complained of a hurt back but it wasn't bad enough to stop him from being on the course for some more golf golC the next day The next day while Ralph was standing behind the cart of his golfing companion getting his clubs out another cart came up from the rear and ran into him catching his leg between the two carts In the excitement of the moment the driver of the second cart hit the accelerator instead of the brake This time Ralph had had it He was taken to the hospital where it was found that his leg was broken in two places and also after x x- x rays that the lumbar in his back had been cracked Needless Needless' to say with a broken back and a broken leg Ralph will no not be playing golf for awhile Ralph should have a good handicap when he gets back on the course but before he plays again hed he'd better be sure his companions have taken drivers driver's training and take a defensive riders course himself i This weekend is the time everyone heads for the hills for forthe forthe forthe the annual deer hunt Even the schools will be closed Monday Monda for the hunt Stale State federal county offices and many other offices will close for Mondays Monday's Veterans Veteran's Day Most retail stores and businesses will remain open as usual Each no doubt wishing they had good reason to close and be on the hills hunting too Last Saturday was the first day you could legally have studded tires on your car or truck for this winter The weatherman has been sending such nice weather that no one wants to think about studded tires But remembering how dry it was last winter and the drought conditions this summer sum sum- summer mer we realize there had better be some good heavy snows this winter to help us through next summer It seems that if you prepare for lots of early snow by getting gelling the snow tires on now it doesn't snow But if you wait until the snow starts to fly you'll get caught coming up Daniels Canyon in a blizzard without snow tires What does this say say Leave the snow tires off if you want it to snow The fire at the Corey Grua residence last week was a tragedy Coming as close as the Grua Grea family did to losing their lives in an unexpected middle of the night fire should make everyone more alert After last Thursdays Thursday's fire it should be a little harder for some of us to get a good nights night's sleep unless we are sure our homes are as safe fire as possible And if you do sleep soundly there is always alwa's the question Would you wake in time to save your family if your home caught on fire We can never let our guard down when it comes to fire prevention for our homes and businesses Especially should care be taken this winter as homes have reverted back to wood or coal stoves man asan asan as m an energy conservation measure We should be sure stoves and fireplaces are installed installed installed in in- stalled safely with flues that can adequately handle the heat produced A young family suddenly left without a home in the middle of the night is one of the most tragic experiences wr W we care to imagine Please check home heating healing equipment to o be sure it itIs itis itis is in good safe condition Dont Don't leave fire prevention to chance the odds are ara too great Even if just one home burns it could be yours |
