Show Editor Journal. - A stabbing affray occurred at Williams' Junction on the 18th inst. between James Evans and A. E. Mason. Evans is the son of Richard Evans, of Malad City. He stabbed Mason in the back ten or twelve times. One cut is said to be so bad as to show his left kidney. Another gash over the left eye looks like that organ had been cut out. After the cutting occurred, Evans tried to make his escape on horseback. He was overtaken by the passenger train on board of which was Roadmaster Payne, who got off the train, arrested him, and gave him a free ride on a hand car into Beaver Canyon, where he was held till today, when the sheriff from Dillon came down and took him back there, where he will have a hearing. Mason is a section hand and has a family in Ogden. R. Beaver canyon, Oct. (October) 18th. |
