Show A CENTRAL SCHOOL HOUSE WANTED. Editor Journal:-Many arguments could readily be advanced to show that Logan greatly needs a large, central school house, where the more advanced classes of pupils from all parts of the city could be taught under a better system than is possible to establish with our schools arranged as they are at present. Probably not a single tax-payer (nor a married one either) in this city will deny the necessity for such a central school, and the reason why we don't have it, is the same as the one why Sailor Jack didn't buy a steamboat when they were selling at a quarter apiece-he didn't have the quarter. If our trustees had the funds there is no doubt but that we should have the central school building, and that, too, with the hearty approval of all citizens. It has occurred to me, however, that the school property in the various wards-scattered as it is-might be sold and re-invested in a central school building with decided advantage to the educational interests of our city. Hoping our excellent trustees will act on this hint, and at least investigate the subject, I am, Very respectfully, A Fourth-Warder. |
