Show FIRE IN LOGAN CANYON. For some time past a fire has been raging in the timber on the south side of Logan canyon, which has done great danger. It has swept over a large area, consuming timber that was dry enough to burn, and killing growing trees. After dark, on Saturday evening last, a lurid glow, produced by the flames, shone over the tops of the mountains east of Logan, producing the effect of a brilliant planet, emerging from behind them. It is a great pity that a few of the originators of these destructive forest fires are not detected and punished. A few examples might teach caution to parties working in the mountains. These fires annually destroy great quantities of timber in the mountains and in nine cases out of ten they are the result of carelessness if not of wanton mischief. |
