Show LOCALISMS. GO and register. HAVE you registered? THIS is the week in which to register. ONLY two cases in the police court last week. THE road up Logan canyon is dreadfully dusty. IF you haven't registered, go at once and attend to it. SOME ladders are being made for the use of the fire department. THERE is a parasol in the Tithing office awaiting an owner. WILL BROWN, who broke and dislocated his ankle lately, is improving fast. HAVEN'T heard of a wedding in town for a long time, till last Sunday evening. THERE are soon to be some important changes in the corps of clerks in Z. C. M. I. THE U. & N. has gone back on the newspapers. No accidents lately worth making an item of. FOUR hundred persons registered in Logan yesterday. This is more than ever voted in this city. THE fire boys, red shirts and all, were out practicing on Saturday. They sprinkled the street nicely. PARTIES intending to have exhibits of the fair commencing on the 20th should be getting them ready. ANDREW Lowe, and S. L. Balliff are getting up a party to come off in Providence Hall on the evening of the 21st. THE retail dry goods department of Z. C. M. I. is being renovated, re-arranged and set in order. IT seems like an epidemic of accidents occasionally visits this county, and that we have been passing through one lately. THREE men are suspected of taking the ammunition, etc., from Ash's gun shop one day last week, but in the absence of good proof they have not been proceeded against. THE amount of team traffic traveling over Logan canyon road is astonishing. In a ride of about five miles up the canyon lately, we met twenty teams coming down. ASK your neighbor if he or she has registered. If not invite him or her to go or ride with you to the registrar's office, and see that his or her name is put on the voting list. WET streaks appear on the mountain side below the canal in Logan canyon. The water seeps through crevices in the rocks, but the canal leaks less than was expected. BEFORE sending your orders south, call or send to our office, for samples of our job work. We can show you good work, offer low prices, and guarantee honest count. THERE seems to be a disposition among the young men of Logan, who have means and ability, to go into business for themselves. such a course will develope the business ability that exists in our community. ON next Saturday evening the Logan Dramatic Club will play "Evadne" in Providence Theatre, on which occasion the performance will conclude with the laughable farce, "A Kiss in the Dark." A full house may be expected. A correspondent sends us a mass of MS [manuscripts] rolled up. If he could have the heard the ejaculations uttered by editors, revisers, proof readers and typos who handled his eel-like pages he would have been "educated" to fold his MS. instead of rolling it. COUNTY REGISTRAR C. C. Goodwin, desires to announce that any legal voter, deprived of registration by any error of any deputy registrars, will receive justice by laying their case before him. His office will be with Dr. Norcross, Logan, until the November election, and voters having grievances, are invited to call upon or communicate with him. YESTERDAY afternoon fifty yards north of the U. & N. depot might have been seen four dusky warriors in full paint and blankets, squatted on a pile of lumber spring ?? fashion of the civilizers of the country, playing cards. They played with as much esprit as Chinamen, their confab being quite amusing to several onlookers. Thus we progress. A CORRESPONDENT sends us an account of the accident to Christian Petersen, of Richmond, who was dreadfully injured by a mower some days ago, which is substantially the same as that we gave in our last issue. It appears that the unfortunate man is a worthy object of ??. He has a wife and six children. His wife was seriously sick at the time of the accident, and should he recover, he will be dreadfully crippled. THERE was a wedding at the Logan House last Sunday evening at which Justice Cummings officiated, and with which was connected a slight vein of romance. A youth named Alexander McPhail left his native country, Scotland, nine years ago, betrothed to a schoolmate named Catherine Durgan. All these years he has been among the mountains of Utah and Idaho trying to make a raise. Succeeding at length, he sent for his sweet heart, who arrived in Ogden last week where he met her. They came to Logan where they were married as stated and on the same evening started for their future home in Boise, Idaho. |
