Show THAT MAP. We were somewhat awed by the receipt of the following official document, a few mornings since, and meekly give it place. Office of Superintendent of District Schools. For Cache County. Logan City, Dec. 4th, 1880. Editor Leader - The map of the "Book of Mormon" now in the B.Y.C. {Brigham Young College] was copied by your brother from one drawn and mailed to me by the courtesy of Prof. Talmage of Provo. Prof. Talmage has studied the Book of Mormon under Prof. Maeser, but as Prof. Maeser did not send me the map to which you refer in the last LEADER I think it an injustice to give him all the credit. Respectfully, W.H. Apperley.

We never heard of a map of a book before, but are always eager to bear "the latest." B.Y.C. means Brigham Young College, we suppose, and "your brother," (we have several) doubtless refers to Horace Cummings, Esq., who wrote to Prof. Maeser for the map of the regions described in the Book of Mormon. We gladly give the credit to whom it is due, and if Prof. Talmage granted the favor which was asked of Prof. Maeser, we will make his credit mark so much the longer. Thanks, friend A., for your correction. |
