Show The Nation, in reviewing the obituary notices of Ole Bull, derived chiefly from Appleton's Cyclopedia, says that no man was ever killed by Ole Bull in a duel; he never tried to commit suicide by throwing himself into the Seine; never took part in a campaign in Algeria under General Yusef; never established national schools of literature and art in Norway; never married a German woman for his second wife; and did not leave a son, but a daughter 10 years old. This leaves it a matter of great doubt whether there was any such man as Ole Bull, and whether he ever did anything worth mentioning. Detroit Press. |
