Show CACHE COUNTY CROSS CUTS. New Lime for sale at the Temple Block. A Sunday school jubilee was held in Wellsville on Sunday last. Highest Market Price paid for Wheat in Cash at Union Mills. There was another pleasant party in ??? last Wednesday evening. Regular quarterly conference in Logan tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. When you come to conference call and renew your subscription to the Leader. Macallister the wizard performs in Logan Theatre this and tomorrow on stage. Remember the children's concert tomorrow (Saturday) evening in the Tabernacle basement. Before snow covers the ground would it not be well to clear the streets of cobble stones? Should the weather prove fine we anticipate having an excellent time at our quarterly conference commencing Nov. (November) 6th. Parties living on unsurveyed lands should read the communication on the subject which appears elsewhere in this issue of the Leader. Read the notice respecting the next term of the schools of Logan. During the term just closed, that attendance and progress has been good. The masons commenced laying the last string course of rock on the wall of the Temple on Oct. (October) 28th. Work on the roof commenced last Monday. Any persons having volume one, two or three of the Millennial Star, can hear of a purchaser at a good price by communicating with this office. There is to be a night school in the B. Y. (Brigham Young) College building commencing on Monday evening next. Read the item about it which appears elsewhere. Of late we notice better order in public assemblies than has been usual formerly. We trust the improvement will continue and become still more marked. Neilsen and Henstrom, tailors are prepared to make to order, from the best materials, all kinds of gents clothing, suits, overcoats &c. (etc.). Shop, next door east of post office. There are some gipsies in town who are making money by telling the fortune of the silly at $5 per head. If the foot-killer would only follow them up, we should hear of a brisk demand for coffins. The party in Logan Hall on Friday night last was a pleasant affair, though towards the close certain young men ??? endeavoured to create trouble because no round dancing was permitted. Taxes all paid? There was a rush of taxpayers in the collector's office on Saturday last, who seemed surprisingly eager to part with their money. Probably because the close of the days of ??? was near at hand. Hanson & Thomas, merchant tailors, have just received a splendid stock of imported suits and overcoat goods. They also keep on hand cloths made at ??? mill in Utah. They are greatly ??? with work just now. On Wednesday, Oct. (October) 27th, three young men, all from Providence we understood, were in Logan in a drunken condition. After carousing around for a while, and driving a team in a reckless manner, one of them was arrested and fined $7.50. The U. O. Foundry "made a run" on Wednesday. Among the castings made were a copying press for the Leader office, parts of sash machine for Lundberg & Garff, a quantity of stove castings, and a lot of extras for agricultural machinery. They have some skilled workmen at the foundry, and make good work. We have established the rule of going to press on Thursday p.m. and of putting the papers of all Logan in the post office so that they may be delivered early Friday morning. We are confident that this will suit all concerned better than the former system of delivering papers by carrier to the business men among our subscribers which was always a source of complaint and annoyance. |
