Show Examination. On Wednesday evening last the Sunday school of the Third Ward had an examination. The exercises, which were of a pleasing and instructive character, consisted of songs, instrumental music, recitations, Bible, Book of Mormon Doctrine and Covenants, and Catechism lessons. Some of the children exhibited great proficiency and all of them gave evidence of having been well trained. One little fellow about seven years of age, a son of Brother Thomas Tarbett, alter having given a recitation and engaged in other exercises, repeated a long lesson from the Doctrine and Covenants with astonishing ease and correctness. He certainly has a remarkable memory which should be well cultivated. Altogether the occasion was most enjoyable and profitable. Elder John A. Cowley, Superintendent of the school, with his assistants deserves the greatest credit; and we commend his example to others. |
