Show Sunday School Union. The Sunday School Union of Logan met in the basement of the Tabernacle at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 1880, Supt. Ormsby presiding. Singing by the S. S. Union Choir, "Ring the Bells." Prayer by Elder H. Flamm[?] [Elamm?]. Singing by the choir, "Beautiful Day." Roll was then called of superintendents, assistants and secretaries of the various schools, each one present responding by repeating a verse from the Bible; after which ten minutes were occupied by persons in the audience repeating sentiments and verses from the Bible. Supt. Ormsby said the aim of the Sunday School Union is to reach the parents, and bring the children before them that they may see what progress is made. He also urged the necessity of parents visiting the Sunday school to see for themselves whether their children were taught correct principles or not. The programme [program] was then gone through as follows: Song, by Geo.[George] Morrison and company; recitation by Master Louis Roolrory[?]; song, by Miss Lucy Morgan; reading 3rd chapter First Samuel by Supt. E. Carpenter; song by Miss Sarah Ann Jacobs and Miss Nora Flamm[?]; recitation , by Master Frank Merrill; song, by the S. S. Union Choir; select readings by Miss Lea Wilson; song, by S. S. Union Choir; select reading by Miss Harriet Lewis. Priests, C. O. Card and G. L. Farrell also Assistant Superintendent Charles Nibley and the Bishops of the various wards made some very appropriate remarks and expressed their entire satisfaction at having a S. S. Union established in Logan. Adjourned till the first Sunday in February. Singing by choir. Benediction by Elder T. E. Ricks.
