Show BINGHAM BLAST INJURES FIVE Five workers were injured, one seriously, when a blast occurred oc-curred Wednesday while the men were drilling on a 7000 ft. tunnel from lower Bingham into the Kennecott Copper Corp. copper pit. All were Utah Construction Co. workers. One man was in "serious" condition and three others were listed as "good" in St. Mark's hospital in Salt Lake City Wednesday night. Listed as serious was Everett Lovato, 41, 3054 So. West Temple. He suffered a severe brain injury hospital attendants said. Listed as '"good" were Harold K. Howlett, 18, Draper, who suffered suf-fered eye injuries; Lee Anderson, Ander-son, 37, 3172-5th East, minor eye injuries and James L. Washburn, Draper, minor bruises and abrasions. abra-sions. Clem Washburn, 28, Draper, a brother of James, also suffered bruises and abrasions and was released after treatment. The explosion occurred at 8:25 a.m. when the workers drilled into a "missed hole" powder charge. |
