Madsen were among those who are attending conference this week. Dr. Wl D. Bishop returned from Salt Lake Sunday. While there, he met Frederick S. Dellenbaugh of New York City, who, with Dr. Bishop's father, are the only two surviving .members of the Powell Expedition, who did topographical work on the Colorado River. Mr. Dellenbaugh stated that he plans to come out here next year to trace Escalante's Trail. Mrs. J. O. Orser, Assistant Cashier of the Roosevelt -State Bank and Mrs. Axel Birch of the Telephone Company were in town on business Friday. tMJrs. Jesse W. Earl Case. Suit for divorce was commenced in the District Court by Leona Bunce vs. Scott Bunce. Mrs. Bunce asks for custody of a minor child. Mr. and Mrs. J. Ilollenbeck and son. Milton, spent 'Sunday visiting relatives in Bluebell. George Pope came in last week and has to work in Indian canyou in the elaterite mines. W. A. Paxton, Superintendent, spent the fore, part of the week In the northeast north-east part of the county. Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Axelgard and four boys came over from Price Saturday Sat-urday evening and spent the night at the Bowers residence and took dinner with the Whltfrods Sunday, returning home Sunday night. J. W. Clement Is building another building on his lots In the north-west part of town. Mrs. Mary Spratt of Utahn left Saturday for San Diego, Calfornla, in company with her grandson and wife Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Brennlck; who have been visiting here the past two weeks. Mrs. Spratt has not been well of late and we hope the change will do her much good. Jospeh Gee came in from Colton Monday. with 100 head of sheep which he took to his ranch below town. Pope at Consumers, Sunday, Complimenting Mrs. J. W. Johnston Mrs. Titus Jones entertained at a birthday party on Tuesday evening. Miss Lucy Crites is sinking a well on her homestead near the head of Blue Bench, 8 miles north of town. The shaft was sunk. 35 feet through the rich alluvial soil before the hard pan was reached. 'This marks a forward step in the progress of the town from the license of frontier fron-tier life to the better ordered conduct of a civilized community. Ranchers can make their visits to town on Saturday Sat-urday and rest on Sunday along with the storekeepers. The school election which was postponed post-poned from July 5th to July 12th, may be quite a spirited affair. The country people claim that while it may be all right for all three school directors to live within a stone's throw of the handsome $5,000 school built last year in Theodore, they are entitled to some representation on the next board and to more and better bet-ter school houses In the ruiral districts. dis-tricts. Reports from those who have been in the Uintah mountains recently state that the snow which causes the floods Is practically all melted, and that from now on the Duchesne will fall steadily. At Theodore the Duchesne Du-chesne is a full foot lower that its highest mark, two Sundays ago, while Strawberry Is nearly down to normal. Watrous aud Mart Marsing, have arranged an unusually Interesting program of speaking and music in the town hall in the fore-hoon, fore-hoon, which the lady conferees, Mesdames Mes-dames BJornson, Biwin, Watrous and Fortle, say, however, will be excelled In enjoyment by the dance they will give in the town hall in the evening.
