They kept the glass clean and did their work very well, even though they worlied very slowly. "Did It make you angry, Snail One?" asked the goldfish named Mr. Toklo Jones. "Did It make you angry, Snail Two?' nsked the goldfish named Mr. Pkln' -Baxter. "I do believe you are angry, though, Snail One,".' said Mr. Toklo Jones. "I don't see why," said Snail One. "I don't see why," said Snail Two, so slowly and so lazily, as though It said the same thing because Snail One had and It was easier to do' that than to think up something new. "It would be better not to get angry at all, wouldn't It?" asked Snail One. "Surely It would be better," said Snnil Two. "One wouldn't get excited and one wouldn't get unhappy, and one wouldn't make one's self appear foolish fool-ish as one often does getting angry," said Snail One. And then both the Snails looked at each other and would not talk any more for they had exhausted themselves them-selves talking so much. People had been looking at the goldfish bowl nnd had said how very, very lazy snails were. And the two snails didn't mind being be-ing called lazy. They were just too lazy to mind ! |
