Show Trace the Source of ' Queen of Sheba' Gold The ruins of Zimbabwe In Mashon-nland, Mashon-nland, southern Rhodesia, are interesting inter-esting and extensive and but little Is known of them, although It is 'more than possible that they hare some lmpprtant bearing on the early, history, his-tory, of man. Accordingly an English Eng-lish expedition Is nbout to investigate investi-gate Uie ruins from'a scientific stand' point. It Is thought to be. possible', that they will find some' explanation' of the source of the 120-talents of gold which the queen of Sheba presented pre-sented to Solomon, and some of the other wealth of that time. The gold mines of Rhodesia were worked -during an era corresponding to the reigns of those monnrchs, and many relics found in the temples and other ruined buildings are dlsUnctly Asiatic. Zimbabwe was. the mythical "dead city" of Sir Rider Haggard's "She." It also figures In his other novels, "Allan Quatermaln," and "King Solomon's Solo-mon's Mines." The natives regard It with superstitious fenr. These facts have helped make it a city of mystery mys-tery . and conjecture. |
