Show FARMERS WARNED NOT TO ASSIGN WHEAT PAYMENTS Agricultural adjustment administration admin-istration .officials have warned farmers against signing agreements agree-ments assigning their wheat adjustment adj-ustment payment check to creditors credit-ors or other parties in violation of their contracts, according to Director William Peterson, manager man-ager of the administration for Utah. The foregoing warning was issued issu-ed as a result of word that creditors credit-ors of farmers in same states are seeking to get farmers to agree to such assignments. "The purpose of the wheat ad-' ad-' justment payment is to put his . additional purchasing power intO) the hands of the farmer for him to use at his descretions not merely, to have him assign his adjustment ( payment to the first creditor who reaches him," . Director Peterson said. "The answer of any farmer to a creditor who asks thas the adjustment adjust-ment payment check be assigned; to him, is that such action is impossible im-possible under Article 16 of the contract, which reads: 'The pro-j ducer will not sell or assign, in whole or in part, this contract or, his right to or claim for ajust-J ment payments under this con-j tract, and will not execute any. power of attorney to collect such adjustments or to order that any( such payments be made. Any such sale, assignment, order, or power' of attorney shall be null and void,' " Director Peterson said. |
