Solidity, permanence, prosperity. Stores still showing profits, streets crowded with business. bus-iness. Such a town is Edwardsville, Edwards-ville, and many others like it in this section of the country. A visit to Scott's airfield, devoted de-voted to "Lighter than air" craft. A huge airdrome, second largest in the world, that made two army blimps look like the last two cigars cig-ars in a box. Thursday, Oct. 19th. Edwardsville, 111. to Lafayette, Indiana, over an indirect route through Indianapolis, site of the great two and one-half mile motor speedway, where the 500 mile race is run each spring. Rain, all day, a slow, constant rain that soaked everything, the kind that makes irrigation unnecessary. un-necessary. And so, over wonderful wonder-ful concrete highways through Indiana's beautiful hills and ravines rav-ines to LaFayette, and the romantic roman-tic Wabash. p Over two hours finding a tour- ists camp here, and then several miles out of town. Our road into town took us directly by the Fair Grounds where we caught our first glimpse of the magnificent buildings, modern to the last word in architecture,, archi-tecture,, color and design. Sat. Oct. 21. Rain again! and it it rain, from morning 'till night The Field Museum, one of the largest museums of Natural History Hist-ory in the world. Here, among the thousands of exhibits are complete com-plete displays of Utah Resources. Gilsinite and elaterite from the Uintah Basin, Coal from Carbon county, etc. The Shedd acquarium, the largest larg-est in the world, with fish of every size and discription. These two buildings are adjacent to, but not actually part of the Century of Progress. Sunday to Tuesday. THE FAIR Color, crowds, science, history, prophecy, the new compared with the old. Three days of the Fair, and we couldn't see it all if we had . three months. Television, seeing sound, hearing light, the micro-vivarium, micro-vivarium, the transparent man beer, the color organ, a mechanical cow making milk, canes, a model electric kitchen that talks and demonstrates itself. Incoherent ? Yes; That is the Fair. Al Smith on the Avenue of Flags, followed by a cortage of Chicago Notables, the Perdue Military Band, playing play-ing in the Court of the Hall of Science, a zepplin flying overhead, a "barker" urging you in to see nude models in the "Art Classes" In "The Streets of Paris". Such is the North half of the Fair. What will the rest be like?
