Show PARK CITY - TREASURE MOUNTAIN Park City is an old mining town located in a small canyon can-yon in the Wasatch Mountains. Park City spring into existence in 1869 with a dramatic silver strike and reached its heyday in the 1890fs. With drops in silver prices and increased costs of mining, many of the mines have closed. The town was slowly dying when a community development program pro-gram lifted Park City up by its bootstraps by use of its beautiful beauti-ful scenery, mountains, and dry powdery snow. Park City has become a popular ski resort and convention con-vention center. It is one of the choice ski areas in America and is an important cog in the bid of the U. S. Olympic Committee Com-mittee to bring the 1962 Winter Olympics to Utah's big ski country. |
