Show Press Agent Promises SALT LAKE THEATRE. The season at the Salt Lake Theatre will have no more welcome attraction than Lou Dockstader and his famous minstrels next Friday Fri-day and Saturday, May 8 and 9. There is no "star" in thc country more distinctive in personality person-ality than Dockstader. He is a comedian of exceptional originality j and artistic methods, and is in a class by himself in his special field of minstrelsy. He is a fun-maker par excellence, always, providing something new, and delivering it with an unction that is as rare as it is delightful. He has a new skit this year called "A Dull Day I in the White House" that is brimful of humorous allusions to topics now uppermost in the public mind. His "make-up" is one of the most artistic caricatures of his career. Dockstader has a host of clever performers with him this season. sea-son. Among the comedians arc such well known laugh experts as Neil O'Brien, Vic. Richards, Eddie Mazzier, Pete Dctzel and Tommy Hyde. Among thc singers are : Reese V. Prosser, Will Oakland, W. H. Thompson, Herbert Willison, James Bradley, Master Keegan. There is a comedy of twenty-five dancers, while the orchestra, composed com-posed of twenty-one instruments, is without question the best ever seen with a minstrel organization. The scenic arrangements for thc various acts are unusually beautiful. ORPHEUM. According to the promise of thc management of the Orphcum there will be no break in the good programs that have prevailed at the popular State street house during thc past few weeks. They claim that next week's program will measure up in every way to thc previous set standards. On the bill are these acts: The Three Sisters Macarte, Dixon Bros., Rockway & Conway, Thos. J. Keogh and Ruth Francis, Wells & Sells, Lockwood & Bryson, The Kinodrome and Orchestra. The headline act, The Three Sisters Macarte, are a trio of English Eng-lish beauties who have recently left their native land to win fresh laurels in America. The critics have pronounced their act a unique, artistic, clever, acrobatic turn and if they live up to their promise they should furnish a veritable muscular sensation. They have an aerial act which is said to be thc acme of perfection, finish and grace. Dixon Bros, are a pair of European comedians whose act is fdled with musical novelties and comedy work. Then there is Rockway & Conway, singers and comedians ; their act is said to be original and out of the ordinary. They have new songs which they render well and a number of new stories and gags which they serve in an entertaining manner. TiwS' J-TKco5h and Ruth Francis present a one-act play entitled I he Ward Heeler." This playlet is said to be a mixture of comedy and melodrama and the way Keogh uses twentieth century slang is said to be an unmixed joy, in fact it has proven a revelation to most people. Miss Francis, upon whose shoulders much of the credit for the success of the act rests, is a sweet dainty little person who acts and sings well. Wells & Sells are a couple of comedy acrobats who have an act that is highly entertaining. Lockwood & Bryson have an act that has made good everywhere and is to be a real surprise to Orpheumitcs. r. . tTIlese acts together with the Kinodrome an- Wcihe's orchestra ! finish the bill. |
