Show elsie green the lie ile birst first ward warr was host to its s members at a chicken supper last thursday evening at the D strict school lunch room th s banquet wis was held for the purpose of raising the ward s quota for the church welfare bishop mccoy johnson and his counselors H wallace severe and thomas had charge of the arrangements and the supper which started at 8 p in each aux vas was asked to provide a tain portion of the dinner and the rel ef society under the direction of ruth cooked the meal following pie the banquet a dance was held in the opera house to the music of bob cook cooks s orchestra ap proximately people were pre sen at the meal and the count reached upwards of at the dance everyone turned out and sup ported the ward and really had a swell time visiting with each other the second ward scouts beat erda 25 11 on the floor last thursday evening right from the beginning the second ward boys took over and proceeded to leave the erda team in the dust arlo fawson proved that he is a good man to have around for he was always on hand and was hitting the hoop almost every time he got the ball at mutual last tuesday the glea ners presented the preliminary pro gram virginia geldmacher Geldi nacher gave a reading with a surprise ending and mrs erna stromberg sang two in dian than love songs which we enjoyed very much the high school presented its traveling assembly at cyprus last friday morning and in bingham in the afternoon the home of mr and mrs sam davenport about two miles north of grantsville Grants ville burned to the ground saturday morning about I 1 a in defective wiring is believed to be the cause of the disaster mrs chloe davenport was a wakened by the smell of smoke investigating she found her front room afire she got into her car and headed for town to ring the I 1 siren by the time she and the fire en gine returned the fire had a good start and nothing could be saved from the front rooms although most everything in the other rooms were brought out the fire crew worked valiantly but to no avail the fire had too much of a start on them and the house went up in flames mrs W B green was hostess to her club at her home last thurs day afternoon those present were carrie reed jennie erickson clara johansen and the hostess they spent the afternoon sewing and a real good visit mrs eddie green and son terry are spending a few days in wend over at the home of mrs gene L jones |
