Show history of ofed E B speen green my grandfather I 1 concluded from last week I 1 but grandma was always an ac tive man and he was still interest ed in mining prospecting etc he would take his trusty old automo bile and start out for the unknown the day moved along in its reg ular pace night drew near and no grandpa grandma began to get worried and so parley wa was S elected to go look for him maybe the steering gear was broke a tire might have gone out or the bat tery gone dead one case I 1 kemem ber in particular grandpa had de aided to go to rush valley to get some cedar wood for the winter fires he got his wood and started home the old car was running fine they were sailing along with out a care in the world when sud denly the car refused to go up lip a small rise grandpa got out and tested it no spark he began to look around and discovered that he had been driving for miles with out a battery yes somewhere in his day days s rambles he had lost the battery batterr he took the keys left the car sitting where she sat and started walking the family had got worried and had gone to look for grandpa they picked him up part way home went back got the automobile and towed it home the car was damaged rather badly aft er its long trip without a battery but it ran again the next morn ing they went looking for the bat tery they found it right where grandpa had stopped before start ing for home was A good Wood woodsman smart every year grandpa had to go deer hunting and most generally he got his deer he knew the mountains from top to bottom and loved to go out and camp in the hills he used to go deer hunting with hi millward one year he took the ford which we now have and the two of them went out to get their deer As they were driving a long they saw a nice looking buck up ahead grandpa stopped the car rapidly and grabbed his trusty 30 30 and started to shoot then the car began to run away grandpa grabbed the car and tried to stop it and H hi killed the deer they al ways were proud of that deer grandpa continued to go deer hunting and to drive his car until a short time before he died the doctor had forbidden him to do anything very strenuous and he wasn gasn t to arn e his car but grandpa insisted and was always driving or doing something that we he shoud sho lri t do he kept on go 90 ing until lust just before he died he passed away at the family home in on december 7 1943 and was buried in the grantsville Grants ville cemetery on december 10 leaving his widow and six sons to carry on for him they were all present at the funeral except lawrence who was serving overseas with the U S army |
