"Eagle" continued on Page 5 ? The Casual Critic by Daryl Austin Content: Rated PG-1- 3 for mild sensuality and language. While the movie really never shows anything specific or graphic, much is implied as they address adult issues head-o- n. Other Opinions: 3,168 "Average Joes" give "Crazy, Stupid, Love" a rating of 8.0 out of 10 while 141 profession-al film critics give the film an average score of 75 percent out of 100 percent. Should you see it? Yes, I highly recommend this film. There are several stories going on at once and everyone watch-ing should be able to find some-thing they can relate to. "Crazy, Stupid, Love" Casual Critic Score: 8.5 out of 10 Release Date: July 29, 2011 Rating: PG-1- 3 Length: 1 IS minutes Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama "Crazy, Stupid, Love" is a celebration of the wide spec-trum of each emotion that one finds on their journey to and through love. That journey has been portrayed many a time by the hopefuls at Hollywood, but rarely do they get it right. At the end of the day their abil-ity to succeed with these types of films always comes down to their casting choices. "Crazy, Stupid, Love" hits the nail right on the head with every single member of the cast. Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Moore, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, and even newbie Jonah Bobo command every scene they are in. I won't go into the details of the plot because there are plenty of fresh twists and turns that I don't want to spoil, but I will say that the scenes in this film are pieced together so well that you'll experience heart-wrenchi- em-pathy, excitement, inspiration, and over-the-t- fun, sometimes all at once. "Crazy, Stupid, Love" is the rare film in this category that actually gets it all right. Lindon Days Flag Ceremony and 5K Race Held Saturday ... The youngest 5K racer, ld Adria Westra of Lindon, ran with her dad who pushed her younger sis-ter in a stroller. When asked if she planned on running for a career, she laughingly said, "no". The Kids Run drew about 30 young runners who did a half mile run. The Mayor's Break-fast topped off the events be-fore the parade and fair. by Geri Taylor After more than a week of festivities, the final day of Lin-don Days began with a touch-ing flag raising ceremony and a 5K race that drew nearly 175 entrants to the early morning registration and run. After Lindon police officers led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, they lowered, folded and presented the flag to the Grand Marshal of the pa-rade, Gordon Taylor, a WWII veteran. A new flag was then presented and raised, and Ms. Utah, US Continental, Jenni-fer Griffiths of Pleasant Grove, sang the National Anthem. The annual 5K race began at the north entrance to the park and followed a new course under the bridge, along the Lindon Heritage trail, around Pheasant Brook Park and back to the City Park. The first to cross the finish line was Provo resident, Derick Moody, who was running his last Utah race before moving to Idaho to at-tend ISU. His time as 16:58 and he was well ahead of the pack. The oldest entrant, ld Bud Astin, may not have had the winning time, but he impressed all who know what it takes to finish a 5K in admi-rable time. He has run hun-dreds of races but said the only time he wins is when he is the only racer. Jacob Millett took the honors of being the young-est boy to finish and Melissa Pennock was the first woman to cross the finish line. ill ""'- ' Stephanie McArtluir completes the Photo courtesy of Geri Taylor Miu , '"; fr ; " ' - V, t ' ; " ' A U.S. Flag is presented to WWII War Veteran Cordon Taylor by Lindon Police Officer John Lloyd. pholo C0Ulles, r Geri Tayk)r - ' -- - . .,1TO.U,. ... .M, wmft f timmv . llr.ii mia 'Mi. ?, art -- x-- m & - - . . - , . ---r : 1 . For in the end, when our mortal remains are placed in sacred ground, our measure of true greatness will have a lot more to do with love and kindness than with our assets, position or perceived power. I salute Calvin Walker and his wife for the vision and courage they had to start this newspaper. Calvin and his staff have performed an enormous service to this community. What a great country!
