After Lindon police officers led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, they lowered, folded and presented the flag to the Grand Marshal of the parade, pa-rade, Gordon Taylor, a WWII veteran. A new flag was then presented and raised, and Ms. Utah, US Continental, Jennifer Jenni-fer Griffiths of Pleasant Grove, sang the National Anthem. The annual 5K race began at the north entrance to the park and followed a new course under the bridge, along the Lindon Heritage trail, around Pheasant Brook Park and back to the City Park. The oldest entrant, 76-year-old Bud Astin, may not have had the winning time, but he impressed all who know what it takes to finish a 5K in admirable admi-rable time. He has run hundreds hun-dreds of races but said the only time he wins is when he is the only racer. Jacob Millett took the honors of being the youngest young-est boy to finish and Melissa Pennock was the first woman to cross the finish line. ill ""'- ' Stephanie McArtluir completes the Photo courtesy of Geri Taylor Miu i. , '"; fr ; " ' - V, t ' ; .
