Show Services Held In Moab for Californian Graveside services were held Saturday, August 19, at the Grand Valley Ceifietery with Father Charles Free-gard Free-gard presiding for Maurice Rene Roy, 58, who passed away August 10, at Missoula, . Montana. . He was born October It, l'J13, in Montreal, Canada and was a resident of LaJolla Calif, at the time of death. He and his wife, the tormer , Barbara Taylor of 'flrbab, jointly operated an art and photography' gallery for 19 years in LaJolla. . Mr. Roy wan a musicfan for 27 years and was at one time a violinist with the Hartford Symphony in Conn. For 17 years, he played with big named bands, including ;the Frankie Carte band. In ' LaJolla, he was concert mas-' mas-' ter for the LaJolla Civic Or-. Or-. chestra and played violin solo weekly for mass at 'Mary Star of the Sea Cath-olic Cath-olic Church.. He. was also a . fine violin maker and judge ; for tone at the International Violin Makers Convention for the past eight years. As a photographer, Mr. Roy was given the degree of Master of Photography, an honor awarded nationally. 'While on vacation in Montana Mon-tana with his wife, Mr. Roy died of an acute coronary. He is survived by his widow; wi-dow; two sons Robert Roy of San Diego, Calif., and Maurice Maur-ice Jr. of LaJolla and a sister sis-ter in Connecticut! Funeral-mass was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Missoula, Montana on August Aug-ust 17, with services in Moab on August 19, under tfte direction di-rection of the Turner Funeral Funer-al Home. |
