Show Red Devils Aim for Football Opener Against Monticeilo Practicing twice a day for the past two weeks, the Red Devils of Grand County High School are readying themselves them-selves for their first contest of the year Sept. 2 at Monti-cello Monti-cello against the Buckaroos. Coach Glen Richeson said this week that the Devils' should be strong in some positions po-sitions with a lack of tested depth as the big question mark. Richeson is being assisted as-sisted in his duties by Del Ford and Ward Curtis. Returning are fifteen let-termen let-termen from the 1971-72 squad that reached the state playoffs play-offs last year, and nine others oth-ers from the JV squad. A total of 35 boys are currently working for starting berths. Returning to lead the Red Devils for this season are All-State end, Steve Stout, Gregg Holland, Pete Davis in the backfield, and quarterbacks quarter-backs Gene Roberts and Steve Wyatt; linemen are Paul Wyatt on offense and Kent Dalton and Davis on defense. More depth will be added with experience and Coach Richeson said that he is looking for about twenty to twenty-five Sophs to play on an all-Soph team to handle the JV schedule. This should give the younger team mem bers a chance to get more experience than otherwise available, he said. The Sophomore team will be coached by Del Ford and all boys interested should report re-port to Coaches Ford and Richeson as soon as possible. The second game of the season will be played against the Cortez Panthers at Cor-tez, Cor-tez, Colo. Monticeilo is coached this year by Nyle McFarlane, former professional football player and a graduate of Brigham Young University.
