Show Moa6 Members Affend Sfafe Confab Members of the Grand County Sheriff's Posse attended at-tended the Utah State Jeep Search and Rescue Association's Associa-tion's 1972 Convention held in Monticello Aug. 18, 19 and 20. Those attending were Le-cn Le-cn K. Brinkerhoff, Jesse A. Gruver, David E. Laughlin, Ernie Lisonbee, Gayle Mc-Whirt, Mc-Whirt, Jack Miller, Preston L. Nieson, and James N. Phillips. A jeep rally was held on Friday and drivers from 18 posses tested their skill. Grand County, with only three entries, won three of the nine trophies presented. Dave Laughlin placed first in the Class A " division with Leon Brinkerhoff coming in third in the. Class A competition. In the Class C event, Jesse Gruver took home the second place trophy. Oil Saturday, elections were held for State offices with James Phillips narrowly missing mis-sing his bid for State Secretary. Secre-tary. Dave Laughlin, with campaign help from the other oth-er members, was elected to the post of State Quartermaster. Quarter-master. New commander for the Association is Glenn Murray of the Tooele County Sheriff's Posse. Grand County took their share of door prizes which were given away during the three day .event with Ernie Lisonbee receiving a handyman handy-man jack, James Phillips-winning Phillips-winning an aluminum hard-hat hard-hat and a table decoration, and Dave Laughlin receiving a loudspeaker and a piece of polished petrified wood. The posse members reported re-ported that much valuable information in-formation was obtained by them on improved search and rescue techniques; new first aid training programs available avail-able through the state; firearms fire-arms safety and training methods; me-thods; and new equipment available to law enforcement enforce-ment agencies to improve their effectiveness. By continued con-tinued participation in both the Utah State and National Search and Rescue Associations, Associa-tions, it is hoped that the members of the Posse will be able to give better service ser-vice and aid to the residents of Grand County, a posse member stated.
