Show Chamber Group Planning Annual Jeep Safari Chamber of Commerce Directors Di-rectors met Wednesday noon to discuss plans for the upcoming up-coming Jeep Safari to be held Easter weekend. Prcpoals were presented at the meeting meet-ing to improve the Safari and a discussion held on the proposals pro-posals produced one new item it-em to be added to the annual meet. Chamber Directors decided to provide a list of sights to be found on each of the routes rout-es to be taken this year. In the past leaders of the routes have provided this to some extent. The information wili be available this year to all regitrants. The group vetoed a plan to charge a fee for the Safari registration although they did vote to consider a rate increase in the breakfast break-fast to make the Safari a "break even" proposition. Plans are now being read ied for inclusion of a sixth route for the Safari, although no definite direction for this route has yet been announced. announc-ed. The directors also vetoed a proposal which would have included rescue service as part of the registration fee. part of the registration fee. there was not enough of a problem with breakdowns that rescue service was needed. In charge of the Safari this year is Harold Jacobs, who has headed the meet sinco its inception six years ago. Mr. Jacobs is presently engaged en-gaged in checking with the Bureau of Land Management to determine whether or not a fee is to be charged to the Chamber for cleanup after the trips. . Mr. Jacobs will now attend to details for working out thd plans for; the Safari, includ- ing the ice cream air-drop, signing on trails, leaders for the trails, etc . |
