Show Arches Nat. Park Dedicated; Many Dignitaries Attend The dedication of Arches National Park held at the visitor vi-sitor center last Saiurday, attracted at-tracted a large number of dignitaries, but only a small number of local residents. On hand for the ceremonies were Gov. Calvin L. Ramp-ton, Ramp-ton, Sen.. Frank E. Moss and Rep. Sherman P. Lloyd from Utah. The dedication, which followed fol-lowed a luncheon prepared by the Moab Lions Club and served by members of the Moab Leo Club, brought comments com-ments about tile history of Arches and its establishment as a . National Monument in 1929. Congressman Wayne N. Aspinall of Colorado, who heads the House Committee on Interior and Insular Af-Tairs, Af-Tairs, was also at the ceremonies cere-monies to lend his .congratulations. .congrat-ulations. He indicated that the mere name of National Park is- not enough by itself to bring visitors, but the country here can provide that incentive. Solicitor General ' Mitchell Melich cf the Department of the Interior, a former Moab resident, expressd his plea-ure plea-ure at seeing Arches finally given National Park status. Following the brief ceremony, cere-mony, a plaque donated by the Canyonlands Natural History His-tory Assn., was unveiled by Sen. Moss and Mr. Melich. -.JW(ww.. v- f .
