Show quick action appreciated The State Highway Department deserves a round of applause this week for swift and sincere action to investigate speed and traffic problems on the city limits. In response to criticism of existing speed limits and signing the Department sent down several of its top officials Monday, including David L. Ken-nison, Ken-nison, chief traffic engineer, to study the situation and talk with local citizens. As a result crews, under un-der the supervision of District Engineer Jim Deaton of Price, will begin shortly to conduct a radar analysis an-alysis of traffic patterns north and south of town off Highway 163. This is a big move in the right direction. As to changes in speed sones, we'll just have to wait and see. If the results of the radar study show significant signifi-cant change in traffic density and pattern over statistics from earlier surveys, speed zones and appropriate ap-propriate signing would be established in the immediate im-mediate future. If the new figures don't bear out what seems to us a dangrous situation, we can at least expect more frequent surveys of traffic needs in the future. |
