Ted had 16 points and 12 rebounds. rebou-nds. Playmaker for Saturday night's ni-ght's game against South Sevier went to Steve "Bozo" Croasmun, as known by his classmates. Steve had 12 points, poi-nts, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 checks. PEP BAND By Clive Gary The GCHS Pep Band performed perfor-med for last week's basketball games held at Grand County High on Jan. 13 and 14. The Pep Band is composed of about 14 members and played various selections from the bleachers. The Pep Band also plans to make some of the out-of-town basketball trips. The next home game that the band will play for is the Moab vs. Richfield on Jan. 27. SPEECH-ECONOMICS PRO. By dive Gary Mr. Don Hillman and Miss Maralee Roberts gave their economics and speech classes a somewhat of a social studies test to see how the students would react under certain conditions. This took place during 4th hour on Jan. 9th. Mr. Hillman and Miss Roberts Robe-rts constructed, in game form, a sectional society in which the students had a chance to obtain certain qualities such as power, money, etc. Those who gained the most power and status made things difficult diffi-cult for those who didn't. The project was set up so the students could gain an idea of how a society is run and what . factors contribute to a society. Both Mr. Hillman and Miss Roberts felt it was a worthwhile worthwh-ile project and they also stated that the students who participated learned a great deal. INTRAMURALS By Jim Key The Grand County High School Intramural Basketball teams played during games on Monday, the 16th of Jan. The following scores are the results resu-lts of the games: Game-1 played at 6:30 p.m. was Big Mac Attack over the Jazz by a very large margin 110 to 42, Game-2 played at 7:30 p.m. was the Raiders beating by 30 big points (19 to 49) by the Mean Machine, and Game-3 played at 8:30 p.m. was a very close game with the Animals losing by 1 point (50 to 51) to the Chair Lifters. The game times were changed chang-ed from Game 1 which would have been played at 6:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Game 2 which would have been played at 7:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Game 3 which would have been played at 8:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They were changed on December 5th, 1977, to put' them 15 minutes ahead. Come out and watch these games each Monday evening. CLASS TOURS By Debbie Bennett The Vocational Home Economic Econ-omic class last week worked on their food unit from their textbooks and worked on their food handlers book that they have to take a test from. Then on Friday they went to the hospital, toured the kitchen kitch-en and talked with Mrs. Hill about the kitchen. They also talked to Don Davis about X-rays and the lab. The girls learned a lot of things they didn't know. PEP ASSEMBLY By Bart Victor A pep assembly was held at Grand County High School last Friday. Coach Del Ford spoke about the games ahead for the ball club. Friday they faced Norwood Nor-wood and Saturday they saw South Sevier in the first league game. Gene Leonard spoke about the performance of Grand High wrestlers, mainly Bill Roedel with his good performance perform-ance in tournament action in Durango, and Charles Winder with a take down on Wes Hix of Blanding. Good spirit was shown in the assembly Friday with skits and plays, keeping the action going for Grand High activities. activi-ties. PREPS. FOR JR. PROM By Margie Snyder The Junior prom is being held on Saturday, the 8th of April, and preparations are already being made for it. The word prom comes from promenade, which in the case of Grand County High School junior class, means a special dance done by members of the junior class as the highlight of the evening of the prom. All juniors wishing to promenade prom-enade for the prom should be signed up in the office of the High School before the 1st of February. The prom co-chairmen stress that all juniors sign up to dance before members of the other classes participate. JR. VARS. WRESTLING By Robert Robinson The J.V. wrestling team from Grand County High School Sch-ool went into action against a tough San Juan team Jan. 12 in our gym. The J.V. had nine wrestling regular J.V. and two wrestling wrestl-ing exhibitions. In the J.V. 132 lb. class Robert Robinson won by a fall in 4:00 minutes, followed directly by Ced Sher-mer Sher-mer at 138 lbs. who also won by a fall in 3:09. In overall match San Juan won decisively 45-12. |
