Show Bill Bugs Can be Checked In Moab Lawns By Jim Stevens, County Agent Bill bugs killed many lawns last year in Moab and will possibly do considerable damage dam-age again this year. Now is the time to control the adults, before they lay their eggs. Controlling the adult is much more efficient than treating the lawn after the grubs have done their damage. You can effectively control this pest by treating the lawn with Diazinon or Dursban insecticides. For every 1,000 square feet of lawn (an area 20 feet by 50 feet), apply the following amounts: granules: Diazinon 2 per cent, 5 pounds; Dursban lh per cent, 10-20 pounds; emulsifiable concentrates: concen-trates: Diazinon 50 per cent, 6 fluid ounces; Dursban 2 E, 3 fluid ounces. Always carefully read, understand and follow the safety precautions that are printed on the pesticide container label. |
