Show Coaching Assignments Made at High School With the fall sports season less than two weeks away, coaching assignments have been announced for the 1976-77 school year. Football practice, with equipment, starts August 9, with two-a-day practices. The first game, against a new league entry, Hurricane, is slated for August 27, away. The dean of Moab coaches, Glen Richeson, starts his 18th year as head coach of the Red Devil football team. He will be assisted by another veteran Del Ford. Ron Pierce will assist also and have the junior varsity team. Basketball will have as head coach, Del Ford assisted by Ken Yama with Yama handling hand-ling the JV's. Girls basketball, which improved greatly last year will be coached by Lynn Allan. Wrestling, where a flock of young prospects is expected, will be under Coach Gene Leonard with Ron Pierce as ' assistant. Pierce will have a junior varsity assignment too. In the spring sports, the sports program has grown temendously. Baseball will again be under Glen Richeson - maybe! The maybe concerns a possible switch to a baseball program during the summer. Northern Uah coaches are pressing thatVhange. In that event, coach Allan would have baseball. Allan will have girls track again, but Del Ford will take up the job of rebuilding the track program, a program In ' which he developed some fine teams in the past.- Womens Softball and volleyball volley-ball will be coached by Joyce Victor, both sports having a sound basis of success last year. Finally, tennis will be assigned to coach Pierce and coach Richeson will direct, the golf team. |
