Show Athena Firing Cancelled On Thursday U.S. Air Force official announced this week that two Athena missiles scheduled sched-uled for launch last Thursday Thurs-day from the White Sands launch complex near Creon River had been postponed due to technical problem'' and unfavorable weather conditions. At the same time, officials offi-cials announced the firing of four Pershing- missiles this week as the 1971 Spring series of annual service practice filings continues. Firing tho Tershing will be unit's of the Seventh U. S. Army who arrived in Utah last week from stations sta-tions in Europe. The firinur dates and times cannot be revealed in advance. Firing units are placed on alcit status shortly before launch time and must complete all preparations and firings within allotted periods. The safety area southeast south-east of Green River, lying between the Green River and Dead Horse Point State Park will be evacuated evacua-ted on the firing day. Also on the firing day, roadblocks will be set at five points on secondary roads leading into the safety saf-ety area. These will be on the Crystal Geyser, Floy Wash and Dubinky Well roads and on the Dead Horse Point road at a place known a-s "The Knoll and at a point seven miles west of U.S. Highway 1G0-1G3. The highway itself will not bo closed to traffic for the firings. |
