Show County Delays Decision On Camping at Park Grand County Commissioners Com-missioners met March 3 in the courthouse to discuss the issue of closing Lions Park to overnight camping. Representatives of the Moab Lions Club aired their side of the issue by telling the Commission Commis-sion that they wanted to keep the Park as it is. Lion member, Gene Cary, suggested limiting limit-ing the parking and keeping the Park open. The Lions i n d i c a t e d, however, that if the Park were closed to overnight camping, they could not continue to operate it as only a day park without County subsidy. The Commis- sion decided to delay a decision on the issue until it receives a report re-port from the Board of Health on whether the County is liable if the Park is not sanitary. In other matters, Les Rogers reported to the Commission that the Thompson Water District Dist-rict must raise their water system to State standards or the planned plan-ned port of entry and rest areas on Interstate Inter-state 1-70 near that town will be put in different locations. The cost for the project will be $95 thousand. The Commissi', Com-missi', ners stated that revenue-sharing money for tnis project would not be available for two years. The matter was tabled. Marvin Jensen informed in-formed the Commission that the National Park Service is in the process of finding a site in the area for the disposal of solid waste. He suggested sug-gested to the Commission Com-mission that the City, -County, and Park Service Ser-vice work together and find a site suitable for all. |
