Show film focuses on ' tourist industry Tourists why we need thorn and how to treat them is the subject of a new film produced by the Foremost West, a non- profit travel marketing consortium partially funded fund-ed by the Four Corners Regional Commission. The Foremost West in-. in-. eludes the states of Utah, J Colorado, New Mexico; jj Arizona and Nevada, j The 17-minute film foc-i foc-i uses on the importance of I tourism to the overall j economy of the five-state region and on the role the j public , plays in tourism j promotion by treating j visitors properly and mak- ing them feel welcome. "In Utah, travel is one of our largest private industrial economic sectors, sec-tors, generating close to S380 million in 1977," according to J. Phillip Keene HI, director of the Utah Travel Council. "The industry's continued growth depends not only j upon organizations such i as the Utah Travel Council and the Four Comers Regional Commission but also upon every individual in our state. One of the purposes of the film is to encourage residents to take pride in our scenic attractions,' and to give examples of simple but effective things we can do to make the visitor welcome wel-come and keep him in the state longer." The film also showcases the vast recreational activities acti-vities and scenic wonders in the Foremost West. The five-state area includes in-cludes 10 national parks (five of which are in Utah) ; 5 national recreation areas; ar-eas; 42 national monuments, monu-ments, historic sites and memorials; 37 national forests; 30 national primitive primi-tive and wilderness areas and 3 national grasslands.
